Nobel peace prize!
I honestly don't think that Obama deserves this award at all. He has talked a great deal about conflict in the world, but hasn't done much action yet. Knowing that he was simply nominated during the first month of his presidency kind of shocks me. At one end of this its good that he has won because now he has to stick to his word. If he doesn't follow through, it would ruin his reputation. I think we will really see if he deserves it farther into his presidency.

You make a good point friend. He really has not done much yet, but possibly winning this prize may mean that great things will follow. Since he won, like you said means that he will be even more pressured to keep his word and actually create peace.
ReplyDeletei agree with you Justin i dont see why Obama would get the award if he has yet to do anything that promotes him earning it and now that he has earned it like you said it will force him to follow through with his word.
ReplyDeletei feel like he hasn't done a lot yet either and something as important at the noble piece prize could have gone to someone that has made a bigger difference. i think he only got it because he was the first black president.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I think a person has to do more than talk, he or she has to work for a difference in the world and Obama has not done anything but talk about change yet. Plus, if they chose Obama for the Nobel Peace Prize because they want to pressure him into sticking to his word, it is a waste of a prize. It should have been given to someone who has actually done something to make a difference, not to try and pressure a world leader into doing what they want him or her to do.
ReplyDeleteI agree with him completely. Its to little to soon. All he has done is give us a lot of speeches but hasn't followed up with any actions that would merit a Nobel Prize.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you for sure. Not only is it way too soon but I also don't like the fact that the head of the Peace Prize organization stated that they are simply trying to "encourage" the president to continue on his policies.
