Afganistan troop increase?

Back Ground : Gen. Stanley McChrystal, who took over as the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan four months ago, has submitted an assessment in which he reportedly says he needs additional forces to successfully carry out the counterinsurgency strategy. Otherwise, McChrystal reportedly warns, the mission could fail, bringing a return of power to the Taliban.

My question is should be increase troops?

I think the need to increase troops is unnessesary at this time. As far as most new has benn show, the Afganistan area is not in danger of falling into the hands of the taliban any time soon. An increase of 20,000 troops was already deployed in March, and until Afganistan is in amediate threat, I see no reason to increase more trrops. Yes, being prepared is important, but why take the chance with our troops on the ground. Obama has yet to responed to the Generals statement, lets wait and see....

  1. Yes I agree with you and I also think Obama should take much more interest in what the leaders of our military actually have to say about the situation. Although he does have executive decision he must not be able to completely ignore others' opinions and advice.
